Jacob L. Granthas been attracted to the creative arts since childhood. He began sketching his toys - GI Joes, Superman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - when he was about 8 years old.
With the exception of a few art classes throughout high school, Jacob is mostly self-taught. He has dabbled with acrylic and oil paints, as well as pastels and charcoal, but his favorite medium is pencil. He also enjoys watercolors and pen & ink. Until his early twenties, art had only been a hobby for Jacob. With the publication of his second novel, "The Stormcaller," book one in "The Legends of Turmak" trilogy, his work began to make its way out onto the web and into hometown newspapers. It soon caught the eye of Tanya Sousa, an owner and editor at Radiant Hen, a publishing company in northern Vermont. Sousa hired Grant in the fall of 2009 to illustrate the youth mystery novel "Searching for Hannerester," written by award-winning author Marion Page and published posthumously. "Searching for Hannerester" has received substantial praise for both its writing and art from such notable authors as Howard Frank Mosher, Beth Kanell, and Lynda Graham-Barber. It also won a silver metal in the 2010 Children's Moonbeam Book awards Jacob is currently working with Radiant Hen on the children's picture book "Cookie's Fortune," by Lynda Graham-Barber. The book is planned to be released in the summer of 2010. Jacob also works in the publishing & marketing industry as a graphic artist. He spends his days designing websites, business cards, advertisements, book layouts & covers, and much more. |
